As you’ve probably read here before, I’m a big fan of Keto Krate (use code WICKEDSTUFFED to get a discount). They’re a monthly box for low carbers that include a mix of keto-friendly snacks which are usually pretty low in artificial sweeteners as well. I support their “down with sugar” mission, and I always love to discover new products through my monthly shipment.
This month Keto Krate send me a box specifically to review, however I’m also a subscriber of my own choice, cause it’s awesome. The box contained:
- Hilarious Eat Well Ranch Chia Dressing – $5.49 retail
- H-Ball Grapefruit Sparkling Energy Water – $2.50 retail
- Raw Rev Peanut Butter and Sea Salt Bar – $2.00 retail
- Pork Clouds Rosemary & Sea Salt – $4.00 retail
- Ayoba-Yo Biltong – $9.99 retail
- Chocoperfection European Dark Chocolate – $3.99 retail
- SeaBear Smoked Wild Alaskan Salmon Jerky – $6.99 retail
The cost of the box is right around the cost of the goods, but if I had shipped these all individually it would have cost a ton more, so it’s totally worth it for the curation and goods delivered straight to me.
Two items I was psyched about right off the bat: the Chocoperfection bar and the Pork Clouds. Both are brands I’ve had before, and both are tasty snacks that I wouldn’t have discovered without my subscriptions to keto boxes.
The Chocoperfection bar is actual perfection, and it melts in your mouth like milk chocolate.
The pork clouds are soft, light and flavorless, so they take on whatever they’re seasoned with. They’re not so “in your face” with stank like the cheaper pork rinds you get for a dollar at the grocery store. I thought the rosemary sea salt flavor was a real treat.
I don’t have a solo photo of the “Peanut Butter & Sea Salt” Raw Rev Glo bar because it was the very first thing I opened and gobbled because the box arrived at lunch time and I was starving. I’ve had this bar before, and it’s always a great in-between kind of snack. Light in flavor, soft in chewy in texture.
The Hilary’s Ranch Chia dressing is light and fulfilling. If you like a big thick gooey ranch, this is not it. It’s more of a grown up version of ranch that has the same flavor but is much lighter. It’s also free of basically everything: gluten, dairy, egg, soy, corn, canola and xanthan. Although Hilary’s is not using veggie or canola oil, they are using grapeseed oil which I’d typically advise against because it’s super high in omega 6 (the bad kind of fatty acids). However, it seems Hilary’s is keen to omega 6 : omega 3 ratios, because they’ve added omega 3’s to balance them out. I have no way to know if there’s an equal balance but I appreciate the effort and would recommend the dressing.
I love the Keto Krate always includes some kind of jerky. I’m not a huge fan of Biltong usually, but Ayoba Yo does do a nice job. The jerky is flavorful and tender, and not dry at all. The Salmon smoked jerky was a nice treat, too.
As far as the hi-ball, I’m caffeine free so I didn’t dive into this baby, but my husband (also on keto) was a big fan. It’s nice when you have something fizzy to drink that you don’t need to feel guilty about!
I’d say it was a pretty good Keto Krate this month. I love that it’s always diverse – sweet, salty, drink, condiment, snacks. I always look forward to getting this box, and usually bring the items with me to work so I have a supply for the month.
