Spiced Hot Toddy

Just sip before bed, and sleep like a baby, even through the worst colds!

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. boiling water
  • 1.5 oz. bourbon
  • 1/4 of a lemon worth of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. sweetener of your choice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 whole cloves (in a tea/spice bag or cheesecloth)
  • a dash of ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Over the stove in a small pot, bring all the liquid ingredients to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat, add spices and cinnamon stick, and let simmer for about 3 minutes.
  3. Serve with the cinnamon stick as a garnish for stirring, and sprinkle with a dash of nutmeg.

Notes

For a group, multiply this recipe by the number of people you’re serving, except for the cinnamon stick. With the sweetener, sweeten to taste, as you may need much less in larger batches. Add to a crockpot with a ladle. Keep the lid on at all times except when serving

There are many good “sweeteners” you could use here. It could be as simple as a Torani sugar-free vanilla or lemon syrup.
